TIJANI ADETOYESE OLUSI REBRANDS LAGOS ISLAND SANITATION CORPS Charges Officers on Dedication to Duty, Professionalism •Reels out major achievements

The Executive Chairman of Lagos Island Local Government Area, Prince Tijani Adetoyese Olusi has restructured the Council’s Environmental Sanitation Corps in a bid to make the Outfit more Proactive, efficient and prepare it for the major Public health Challenges such as Cholera, Coronavirus and other Metropolitan issues confronting the Council area in recent time.

In his Speech, the Council Boss urged the Officers to show more commitments in the outlined Job responsibilities and discharge their Duties with high level of civility and Professionalism. He also  implored the Corps to observe the Stipulated guidelines issued by the Federal Government and Nigeria Centre for Disease Control during operations.

Olusi emphasised that any member of the Corps who flout the law establishing the Outfit would be made to appear before a Disciplinary Committee and prosecuted if found guilty of misconduct during the discharge of their Duties.

In an exclusive interview with Citizen NewsNG, the Executive Chairman outlined his major Achievements in the last three years in office to include but not limited to Citizens Empowerment; Vocational training, Skills  Acquisition Programme and Social Intervention, Quarterly Aged Citizens’ Financial  support and  distribution of food items , reconstruction of road networks in the central Business district, Educational Support and Provision of Study Materials and Kits to Public Primary School Pupils, Issuance of Soft loans to Petty Traders and Small and medium Scale Businesses, Promotion and Funding of the Entertainment and Creative Industry on the island.

Speaking further, Olusi pleaded with the Residents and visitors to the council area to desist from indiscriminate dumping of refuse into Drainages and Shun all acts that could degrade the environment and pose health threats to humans.

The Supervisor for the Environment and Commander of the Sanitation Corps in the Council Area, Hon. Eletu Moshood Olawale said the rebranding of the Sanitation Corps was necessary and timely as Coronavirus Pandemic ravages the state and the World. He said the initiative will help greatly in the fight against the Virus to curb the spread. He also advised the Residents and Visitors to the council area to Wash their hands regularly, Maintain Social Distancing, Use Facemasks in Public Places and visit accredited Government and Private Health facilities once they notice any symptom synonymous with Coronavirus.

Eletu charged the Sanitation Corps to be delligent, obey the rules of engagement and desist from use of force while discharging their Duties . He applauded the efforts of the Council Chairman for his continuous Support and Proactive approach in the fight against coronavirus and distribution of Stimulus Packages to cushion the effects of lockdown imposed by the Federal Government few months ago.
