The Lagos State Government says it will apprehend hoodlums who attacked Town Planning Officers on enforcement exercise in Ailegun axis of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area and parts of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area respectively.
The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako disclosed this on Tuesday when he led a team to reseal Revonia Oil and Gas station, Ailegun where Government vehicles had been destroy, enforcement seal had been broken and officers attacked for demanding to sight the Planning Permit of the outfit.
The Commissioner who reported that there was a similar attack on officers in Ifako-Ijaiye, stressed that under no pretext should anyone attack State Government Officials on duty.
Upon revisit by the Commissioner, the Renovia oil and gas station was still unable to produce the enabling Planning Permit and was thereby resealed with a promise to sanction the promoters of the outfit and prosecute those that perpetrated the violence.
” We have said repeatedly that breaking of enforcement seal is a serious infrastraction of the law which Government will not tolerate, while we will come down heavily against acts of violence against Officers of the State” he said.
In the same vein, Salako directed the sealing of some other buildings in Ejigbo LCDA and Ifako-Ijaiye LGA for not having Planning Permit.
He urged residents of the State to respect the Physical Planning Laws of Lagos State, refrain from errecting buildings without Planning Permit and ensure that they build by the Rules to achieve an organised, orderly, livable and sustainable physical environment.
With the Commissioner were the Special Adviser to the Governor on Urban Development, Hon Ganiyu Adele Ayuba, the General Manager Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority ( LASPPPA], Tpl. Funmi Osifuye and other functionaries of the Ministry.
