The transformational leadership of Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene in Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos has been widely accepted and praised by the Igbos in Lagos and non-Igbos, alike. Since 2018 when he came into office, the President Ogbonna has warmed the sociopolitical organization into the hearts of the government and people of Lagos. Before now, Ndigbos only want to associate themselves with business and commerce in Lagos but with the coming of Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, the situation is different. He has thrown the Southeast into the mainstream of the governance and polity of the commercial nerve centre of Nigeria.
For more than 20 years of existence of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, little or nothing is known about the organization in Lagos. Only the national body headquartered in Enugu is well known. Even the Lagos branch has no certain address. It just moved its meetings from stadium to hall to event centre, many of which usually ended in discord and rancour.
Solomon Ogbonna has put a proper structure and face to the sociopolitical organization in Lagos. A known location can be ascertained as secretariat. James Robertson, Surulere is a befitting venue for everyone who has visited. This has made several Igbos – business moguls, actors, musicians, and so on – based in Lagos to no longer stay away. They see the secretariat as a home to be. They want to contribute their quota to the development of their kinsmen.
Now, the organization maximizes the power of media. Since 2018, all media in Nigeria know about Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos, are publicizing its works, and are happy about its tremendous growth in the space of four years. The good rapport which now exists among Ohanaeze Ndigbo, media, and government is phenomenal.
League of Media Professionals for Good Governance and Leadership (LMPGOV), an association of all Journalists that is concerned in exemplary and good governance in Nigeria, is hereby fully supporting the 2nd term candidature of Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene as the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos.
The organization is a force to reckon with among the Ndigbos spread across markets, institutions, and locations in Lagos. Every member of the state executive benefits from his leadership. During the pandemic, the President, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene got adequate support for the widows and less privileged. During festive seasons, Ndigbos generally get to enjoy the goodies made available by the Lagos State Government under the leadership of Gov. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu. Solomon Ogbonna Aguene is today regarded by Ndigbos as ‘the man who turned Ohanaeze Ndigbo from analog to digital’.
Every stakeholder should support the second term bid of Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene as President. You don’t change a winning team. You don’t change a winning president says the Director General of the League of Media Professionals for Good Governance and Leadership (LMPGOV) Comrade Samson Oki.
